Over the past year, thousands of British Airways customers have clicked "round up" when booking flights. A few pence here, a few pence there. It’s easy to overlook. But together, those small acts of generosity have created something truly powerful.
The money raised is channelled directly into UK-based initiatives focused on our planet, our people, and the future we share. From protecting biodiversity and restoring green spaces to tackling climate change and regenerating local communities, these are projects with purpose.
Through an inspiring partnership between British Airways and Crowdfunder, these optional donations have helped create the BA Better World Community Fund. This fund supports environmental and community-led projects across the UK. It offers the chance to receive up to £20,000 in match funding, where every donation to a project is matched by British Airways. All with one goal: to help make the world a little fairer, greener and more inclusive.
BA Better World has funded projects like the community-led transformation of local London train stations, creating gardens that support food growing and biodiversity.
The funding is designed to back projects that provide support to improve biodiversity programmes, our natural environment, the regeneration of our local communities, or use innovative solutions to tackle environmental challenges with long-term, measurable impact.
Once approved, each project team has six weeks to launch their Crowdfunder campaign, with donations matched up to £250 per supporter and a maximum of £20,000 per project. It’s a win for passionate changemakers, for the planet, and for every traveller who gives a little extra and makes a lot of good happen.
