A call to help victims of domestic abuse
As the Government announces a £20 million boost for domestic abuse support services - we’re calling on them and others to support our impactful programme.
The recent news that the UK Government is giving an additional £20 million to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse is both welcome and vital.
Jess Phillips MP, Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls, said: “Last week, I met survivors who felt the system wasn’t built for people like them. I hope this funding will change that. It’s about smashing down barriers and making sure every single person facing abuse has somewhere to turn when they make the brave decision to seek help”.
At Crowdfunder, we believe it’s crucial that this new investment is channeled into programmes that are already proven to work, with evidence-led initiatives that understand and reach the most vulnerable quickly.
Home is Where the Harm Is - saw us partner with The National Benevolent Charity, Lightning Reach and Cash Perks, is a groundbreaking model that provides victims of domestic abuse financial support of up to £200 to help flee or start to rebuild their lives within 48 hours of notification of their situation.
The pilot showcased how:
Victims received support within 48 hours via ATMs.
£12,000 in funding was matched by over £19,000 in public donations in under 30 days.
139 victims were supported in 30 days.

The recent days has seen us be given the chance to speak with Jess Phillips MP to see if we can garner support for re-launching the campaign as a year round option for victims.
However, we know that the public support we encourage anyone who would be able to help raise awareness of this programme or help by providing additional funding to find out more.
